Know Our History
Mamsen Engineering was established in 1987
Mamsen Engineering was established in 1987. We initially operated out of a residential shed in Waterfalls. Our managing Director had completed his apprenticeship with Sheet metal industries and managed to accrue over 10 year of experience in the Tobacco and engineering field, prior to establishing his own firm.
Casalee Tobacco service contract
We were soon after awarded a full service contract to maintain the Casalee Tobacco Processing line, providing all engineering and other related services. This service contract required around the clock oversight, ensuring minimal downtime was experienced primarily during the processing season. As the nature of this contract required Mamsen Engineering to be housed in close proximity to the processing plant, they offered us a shed in which we started operating from.
New equipment and machinery
Significant growth in our business, was marked by the successful acquisition of new clientele such as Tabex, Mashonaland Tobacco Company, Tobacco Processors Zimbabwe, City of Harare, and other local firms and governing bodies. This surge in demand enabled us to invest in new equipment and machinery, which we applied for through the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
Moved into our new 10 Coventry Road premises
In 1990 we purchased an industrial stand through the City of Harare. After approval of our plans we then commenced construction of our new Workington premises. We completed the building process in 1994, after which we then relocated our operations from Casallee Tobacco to our new Workington premises.
Expanding our operations beyond Zimbabwe
Through our affiliation with Zimtrade we began exporting products externally . We also began conducting numerous engineering projects within Africa such as Malawi (Limbe Leaf Tobacco, Alliance One), Tanzania (TTPL), Mozambique (MLT, Bitumalaso) etc.
Awarded Zimtrade 2015 exporter of the year
In 2015 Mamsen Engineering was awarded and recognized as the 2015 Engineering exporter of the year, for our contribution towards the national exports. This prestigious award celebrates our dedication to delivering quality products and services nation wide, showcasing our leadership in the export industry.
Invented and patented the revolutionary Twin Turbo Tobacco Curing barn
Tobacco is now grown in almost all parts of Zimbabwe, which consists of approximately 85% small holder growers. The sustainable production of tobacco is critically premised on the development of environmentally friendly, greener curing systems. To this, regard Mamsen Engineering has developed an innovative highly energy efficient system called the Twin – Turbo Barn which currently is earmarked for small to medium scale tobacco farmers.
